Baxter Research Robot is a $25,000 (USD) humanoid robot platform with two 7-axis arms, integrated cameras, sonar, torque sensors, and direct programming access via a standard ROS interface. It is entirely safe to operate around humans without safety cages, making it the perfect companion for late nights in the lab… with no extra pizza required.

In Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, China and Hong Kong, Baxter Research Robot is now available via the Baxter Research Prototype Robot…  it’s the same innovative platform, but with a slightly different name and pricing.  This pricing includes two 7-axis arms, plus built-in sensors for cameras, force, sonar and rangefinder, as well as direct programming access via a standard ROS interface.  Baxter Research Prototype Robot’s robust feature set, plus its extremely low price point, will allow it to become an integral part of robotics labs in higher education institutions and manufacturers’ research centers around the world, just as the Baxter Research Robot is quickly doing in the United States.
